$133.5 Million Hurricane Milton Recovery Action Plan Ready for Review; Hearing Set for March 25

Volusia County will hold a public hearing from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, in the County Council Chambers at the Thomas C. Kelly Administration Center, 123 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand, to gather residents' feedback on the Transform386 Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) action plan for Hurricane Milton recovery. Read more.

This heartwarming story is a testament to the strength and unity of our community. Join us to learn more about the $133,515,000 in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Our staff will be on site at the below locations to answer any questions and provide additional information on how these funds will support disaster relief, long-term recovery, and the restoration of infrastructure and housing in Volusia County. We encourage you to attend and share your input on how these funds can best address the community's unmet needs. Read more.

1/23/25 - New Smyrna Beach Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway.
1/24/25 - Pictona at Holly Hill, 1060 Ridgewood Ave.
1/27/25 - Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave.
1/29/25 - Daytona Beach Regional Library, 105 Jackie Robinson Parkway
2/6/2025 - Volusia County Council Chambers, 123 W. Indiana Ave, DeLand (Public hearing during which public comments will be accepted)

HUD Awards Volusia County more than $133 Million for Disaster Recovery and Mitigation Following Hurricane Milton

Volusia County has been awarded $133,515,000 in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Invitation for Non-Profits: Apply for Transform386's Infrastructure and Mitigation Program

Transform386 is encouraging non-profit organizations to apply to our Infrastructure and Mitigation Program. $50 million of funding has been allocated for infrastructure projects with an additional $42.9 million allocated for mitigation projects. These resources will be utilized to enhance Volusia County as a whole, underscoring dedication to ensure the safety, functionality, and long-term resiliency for the residents of Volusia County. IBM SkillsBuild Workshop

Transform386 and Easterseals are partnering to offer free IBM SkillsBuild workshops to enhance crucial technology and workplace skills. Scheduled across multiple locations in May, these workshops cover vital topics such as leadership, communication, programming, and more. Upon completion, participants will also receive digital credentials, which are valuable for showcasing their new skills to potential employers. Are you a skilled and locally based construction contractor looking to make a significant impact in Volusia County while growing your business? Transform386's contractor, LEMOINE Disaster Services, is seeking proposals for the demolition, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and/or elevation of residential structures, along with the repair or replacement of Manufactured Housing Units (MHUs) impacted by Hurricane Ian. New Application Portal Launched

We are pleased to announce the reopening of our online application portal for the Hurricane Ian Homeowner Recovery program. This follows a brief period of maintenance to enhance our service to the community. We have also resumed in-person support services. Our staff members will be available at selected Volusia County public libraries on various days of the week to offer hands-on assistance to impacted homeowners looking to submit a new application or provide additional documentation for an application already submitted.

The outreach schedule includes:

Tuesdays from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Daytona Beach Regional Library, 105 E. Magnolia Ave.
Wednesdays from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle.
Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave.
Fridays, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway.

Application Portal Down for Maintenance

The Hurricane Ian Homeowner Recovery Program's online application will be temporarily closed for maintenance beginning Friday, March 22, and will reopen at 9 a.m., Monday, April 1. Also, the onsite outreach at public libraries from March 25-29 is canceled due to application maintenance. Onsite application assistance will resume in April at various regional libraries. Read more
